KOHIMA, JULY 9: The State Government is yet to totally unlock Nagaland but practically Kohima city is already unlocked.
On Friday the city witnessed traffic jam and rush of public in the markets. The Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) laid down by the Government has become meaningless and authorities have become mere bystanders.
Traffic police and cops were seen finding hard to man traffic in the city.
The odd and even numbers for vehicles in the city has become is also becoming an ineffective exercise now.
In Kohima, markets and shops are allowed to open on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday till 2 p.m resulting in rush of citizens to markets on these 4 days to stock rations. Markets are doing brisk business due to mad rush by citizens on these 4 days.
Conscious citizens are worried that this uncontrollable crowding of people could further increase the tally of positive cases of COVID-19.
The State Government has taken decision to further unlock the State from July 11, but ahead of time, Kohima is witnessing pre-lockdown atmosphere. (Page News Service)
