Dimapur, April 17: Electricity in Dimapur was restored after 24 hours on Thursday afternoon giving a sigh of relief to the citizens.
Power supply was disrupted Wednesday afternoon after violent wind snapped power lines in many years of Dimapur, sending the entire town into complete darkness.
SDO (Electrical), Dimapur Sub-Division-I, Power, Er Oren Ovung told Nagaland Page that due to violent wind Wednesday, power lines were snapped in many areas of Dimapur and affected all the three phases of Dimapur.
He said since yesterday evening after the wind subsided, power department officials and staffs were working round the clock to assess the damages and efforts to restore the power supply was taken on a war footing.
“Our engineers and staffs, without sleeping last night, were on the field and without any break the restoration work was taken up in full swing”, Er. Oren Ovung said and added that power is one of the most important essential needs at this crucial hour and the department officials have been placed on a war footing.
Though the electricity was restored at around 2 p.m. it had been erratic with frequent unexplained power cuts till late night. (Page News Service)
