Power supply restored after  18 hours in Dimapur

Dimapur, April 3: Once again Dimapur faced a major power breakdown on the night of April 2, only to be restored after almost 18 hours. While the exact reason for the power blackout was not known, the Power Department termed it as “technical snag”.
Dimapur has been witnessing such power failures since last year after two of the transformers broke down at Nagarjan. While the Department tried to restore power supply and did so during the Christmas and New Year, power supply was again affected in January. Within two months, the public witnessed a major breakdown, which affected people from all aspect of life.
A press statement issued to selected newspapers mentioned: “Due to to a technical snag at 132kV sub-station, Nagarjan, Dimapur at 11 PM on 02/04/2018, power supply was disrupted in Dimapur district till 6.30 PM of 03/04/2018.”
The press release issued by Er. Nitovi A. Wotsa, Executive Engineer, Transmission Division, Dimapur further stated: “Due to the complicated nature of the breakdown, despite all out efforts by the Department, much time was required to restore power supply to the entire district.”
The Department regretted the inconvenience caused to the consumers under the District.
