Postal ballot case: NDPP 8 A/C demands action against erring officials

Dimapur, March 13: The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), 8-Western Angami A/C has reiterated its demand for appropriate disciplinary action against erring officials and culprit(s) involved in illegally casted postal ballots under 8-Western Angami A/C.
In a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland, the party unit reminded of the complaint filed by NDPP candidate Er. Kevisekho Kruse against illegally casted postal ballots under the 8-Western A/C, and lamented that no progress has been made so far on the part of the District Election Officer, who is also the Deputy Commissioner of Kohima district.
Quoting reliable sources from the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, the NDPP unit said they have been informed that some suspects have been identified; but regretted that even after 13 days no arrest has been made or action taken against the culprit(s).
“This, we consider it as a lackadaisical attitude on the part of the law enforcing agency which we out-rightly condemn,” it said.
Reiterating its demand for appropriate action against the erring officials and culprit(s) involved, the party unit sought the CEO’s immediate intervention as this is a case of serious irregularities and foul play committed against the NDPP candidate of the constituency, and a case of violation against the constitutional and fundamental rights of citizens.
“In the failure to book the culprits and take necessary action against them, we shall not be held responsible for any untoward incidents that may erupt relating to the incident,” it cautioned. (Page News Service)
