Post-harvest management training for farmers held

Kohima, January 21: The Green Caravan under the supervision of the Department of Agriculture held a training of farmers on Post-harvest management and managerial training for the FPCs, BODs & CEOs, Bookkeeping and Accounting under the MOVCD-NER phase-III at the Directorate of Agriculture Kohima.
The program was chaired by Project Coordinator of TGC Manen Ozukum where Deputy Director (Organic) Dr James Chawang briefed the farmers on the guidelines of the MOVCD-NER scheme and the procedures to avail the various subsidies that are provided for the FPCs.
He emphasised on the need for farmers to have a business mindset approach towards farming and stressed the importance of the role of BODs in making the company not only sustainable but profitable. He also mentioned the various subsidies for Integrated Processing Unit, Refrigerated transport vehicles and Integrated Pack houses etc.
The role of the Service Provider, The Green Caravan was shared by its chairman Richard Belho who assured maximum help in making sure the FPCs get the necessary support for handholding. He mentioned that organic farming is the right way of farming and to achieve food security.
It is to be noted that two FPCs namely Tseko Spice Producer Company Ltd and Southwest Kohima Organic Producer Company Ltd have been formed under Kohima district for the MOVCD-NER phase III scheme. (Page News Service)
