Poshan Maah concludes in Tuensang

tuensangTuensang, October 1: The month long mission of Poshan Abhiyaan that started on September 9 in Tuensang with the inauguration of Model Anganwadi Centre concluded on September 30 with a closing ceremony at CKS Hall, Tuensang with Kumar Ramnikant, IAS, Deputy Commissioner as the special guest.
P H Ramaikalo , SBP Tuensang declared that Tuensang is the highest performing district in Nagaland, and Noksen as the block with highest activities that numbers to 610. He also highlighted the various activities that were undertaken in the District which includes Adolescence Girls Meeting, Convergence Meeting for Anemia camp, Local Leaders and NGO’s Meeting, Identification of SAM/MAM Children Development of Kitchen Garden, and Incremental Learning Approach to name a few.
In his address, Deputy Commissioner congratulated the District Poshan Maah for bringing laurels by being the highest performing district in Nagaland. He also appreciated the teamwork of the staff and for working for the upliftment of the society.
He further stressed on the importance of good nutrition for children and mothers to ensure growth and development of the society and the country as a whole. “A child is like a plant. The more we water and nurture them, the better it grows and bear good fruits”, he expressed.
“The responsibility of ensuring good nutrition and health is on our shoulders. We should understand and contribute towards this cause together”, he added.
Ramnikant also stated that this month long mission is not the end, we must continue to work in the same spirit even in the future.
Also, observing the Poshan Maah 2020 (Nutrition Month) under the Ministry of Women and Child Development, the Department of Social Welfare (ICPS) organized an online competition for Photography, Painting and Slogan Writing. The first, second and third position for Photography were bagged by Adekhing Mongzar, Sujemla and Chimengkaiba Chang respectively.
L Mukom, Imtiyangla and Chingshen Kejong won first, second and third prizes. The winners for Slogan Writing competition were Themsao, KhumtilaSangtam and Lamniu. The winners were awarded during the occasion with cash prizes and citations.
The ceremony was chaired by Seolithsu. Lijungla, Women Pastor, SBL Tuensang Town pronounced the invocation followed by a welcome note by ChotsaseSangtam, District Programme Officer, (ICDS) Tuensang Nagaland.
