Poshan Maah launched at Mon, Tening

Dimapur, September 4: Poshan Maah 2021 celebration was launched on September 3 at DRDA Hall in collaboration with blocks (ICDS) Mon, on the theme: “Converging towards a healthy walk through life”.


The celebration was launched by ADC, Mon, Chingak Konyak. In his address, he encouraged the Frontline Workers, Supervisors, Poshan Coordinators, Anganwadi Workers, Helpers and the convergent Departments to render cooperation, dedication and achieve the target with satisfaction. He also urged the staffs and masses in rural areas to maintain COVID-19 SOPs.
A briefing on (0-16 years) children was given by District Coordinator Child-Line Mon, Eunice Thalih where she stated that their toll free no 1098 service is available 24×7 for assistance towards child abuse, injury, missing, molestation and rape cases.
The programme was chaired by LDA (ICDS), Angun Wagnshu while a briefing on POSHAN MAAH 2021 activities was highlighted by District Coordinator Poshan, Nokyam Khoiyem.
Vote of thanks was delivered by DPO (ICDS) Mon, Y. Tauhong Ngonyen.
Tening:
The month long programme, “Poshan Maah”, was launched at Tening, led by District Administration and Department of Social Welfare.
CDPO Tening, Yanbeni Humtsoe highlighted on the activities to be carried out throughout the month, that includes four phases namely- Poshan Vatika, Yoga and AYUSH for physical well-being, Distribution of Nutrition Kits and identification of Severely Acute Malnutrition (SAM) and distribution of nutritious food.
EAC Tening, Tumben P. Tsanglao exhorted the Department officials, especially the Anganwadi workers to be ambassadors for spreading awareness on holistic nutrition for children and mothers. He further reminded how more than 50% of children in the country are suffering from at least one type of malnutrition and how the program can help in improving the nutrition status with an emphasis on micronutrients that are vital for a child’s mental well-being apart from other physical aspects.


The program was chaired by Block Coordinator Tening, Dibinbo and vote of thanks was proposed by Supervisor, Tening, Sheo Medeo.
Since 2018, every year, September has been celebrated as “POSHAN Maah”, a part of the POSHAN Abhiyaan, to bolster the participation of people in improving holistic nutrition.
Saplings of fruit trees were distributed among participants as part of “Poshan Vatika”.
