Poshan Maah 2020 launched across Nagaland

Dimapur, September 7: A short launching programme of Poshan Maah 2020 was held on September 7 in the at DC’s conference hall, Peren along with PHE Department, Medical Department, RD Department, Education Department & administration. The programme was organised by the Department of Social Welfare, Peren.
The launching program was chaired by Deputy Director Nokcharenla, DPO Peren who briefed about the activities and programs to be taken up in the month at various level in the district and urged all the line department for coordination and active participation.
Deputy Commissioner, Peren Sentiwapang Aier (NCS) also said that it is a good program initiated by the Prime Minister of India to prevent existing malnutrition in India and to identify any prevailing cases in the District and urged the Nodal Department to identify the indicators to progress and work where more approach is needed. He also apprised the line department to work and coordinate for the welfare of the district during the monthly observation of Poshan Maah.
The launching of Poshan Maah was initiated by reading out the Poshan pledge while vote of thanks was delivered by CDPO Jalukie, Namhuheing.
Noklak: In view of September to be celebrated as ‘National Nutrition Month’ across India, ICDS Noklak Project under the Department of Social Welfare conducted a short programme on September 7 at CDPO Office, Noklak under the theme ‘Complementary feeding’.
Speaking on the programme, Senior Supervisor P Hemping of CDPO office Noklak said the purpose of celebrating the Rashtriya Poshan Maah is to take the message of nutrition to every nook and corner of the country. Poshan Abhiyaan is a multi-ministerial convergence mission with a vision to ensure attainment of malnutrition free India by 2022 which is a PM’s overarching scheme for Holistic nourishment, he said.
Rashtriya Poshan Abhiyaan aims to ensure holistic development and adequate nutrition for children in the age group 0-6 years, pregnant women and lactating mothers and adolescent girls.
The month long campaign will culminate on September 30.
The programme was attended by Anganwadi workers of Noklak Project and from civil societies.
Longleng: Programme for the launching of Poshan Maah was held at (EBRC) hall Longleng on September 7, with D. Robin, ADC Longleng as special guest. The ADC led the gathering in reading out the Poshan pledge.
T.Longlang, CDPO Longleng delivered a brief note on the poshan Maah. Dr. Philip Khing Dy CMO Longleng briefed on prevention of Anaemia among woman and adolescent girl’s. The programme was chaired by Longhong District Co-ordinator Poshan Maah.
Medziphema: The month long celebration of Poshan Maah from September 1 to 30 was launched in the conference hall of ADC Medziphema on September 7 with SDO Civil Medziphema, Tokai V Sumi as special guest. He spoke about good health and nutrition and also encouraged proper implementation of the Government schemes for the welfare of the public.
CDPO, Medziphema & ICDS project in-charge Tsungrosongla administrated the Poshan pledge and also briefed on the objectives of Poshan Abhiyaan with regard to reducing stunting and wasting in children and ensuring proper development, adequate nutrition for pregnant women, mothers and children, removing anemia among young children, women and adolescent girls, reducing low birth weight through proper nutrition and social and behavioural changes by building a people’s movement (Jan Andolan).
