Poor revenue collection, poor power supply, says Power Dept.

Nagaland News

Dimapur, April 2: Nagaland Power Department today said the Department is unable to provide uninterrupted power supply to consumers due to poor revenue collection.
Nagaland being a purchasing State, the Department is unable to provide uninterrupted power supply to consumers. However with whatever little the department could provide the consumer should religiously pay electricity bills, a DIPR report quoted Joint Secretary, Power, Sara S Jamir, who is also the team leader for State Level Special Revenue Team of Power Department, as having said at a meeting of the State level special revenue team of Power Department for the year ending 2021-22 FY in the office of SLDC, Nagarjan, Dimapur on April 2.
With the improvement of revenue collection, the department can provide better power supply to consumers in days to come, Sara S Jamir said.
“Power being a service sector, priority should be given to provide good service to consumer,” she said.
On revenue collection, Jamir congratulated Team Dimapur and Chumukedima for achieving Rs.102 crore jointly. As per the DIPR report, she commended Dimapur and Chumukedima Divisions for collecting more than 50% against the rest of the State revenue collection during Financial Year 2021-22.
She encouraged the two divisions to keep up with the momentum and worked towards achieving 100% of revenue target in coming years, keeping in mind the satisfaction of consumers.
Regarding pre-paid meters, she requested EE Dimapur to go for extensive sensitization of target areas and explain to them about the details of prepaid meters in layman’s term like how to recharge, necessary thing to be done after the installation and Government of India’s notification of mandatory installation of prepaid meters, so that there will be no problem in transition from postpaid to prepaid meters.
