Dimapur, February 27: Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) today termed it unfortunate that polling could not be held at PS1-Ladigarh under 49 Tamlu Assembly constituency due to obstruction of the democratic process.
In a letter to Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland, the NDPP said this has resulted in hundreds of citizens being denied the opportunity to carry out their fundamental right to exercise their franchise, which is a serious breach of the democratic process and needs to be addressed immediately.
The NDPP requested the election department and the concerned authorities to undertake all necessary measures to ensure that polling is conducted so that the rights of the citizens are not denied.
It also said without conducting polling in these areas, the declaration of result of the elections of this constituency should be withheld until the polling process is completed in this polling station.
The party further requested the CEO to take up the issue in the most serious manner as this issue has the potential to flare up into a major crisis as it involves the sentiments of the people and also the ongoing border dispute. (Page News Service)
