Police personnel sensitized on legal provisions in Zbto


Dimapur, September 14: A programme under the theme ‘Legal sensitization programme for police officers and law enforcement personnel’ was organised by Zunheboto District Legal Services Authority in the SP’s conference hall, Zunheboto on September 10. The programme was chaired by Tovi Z. Yeptho, Project Assistant of Zunheboto DLSA.
Atoka Achumi, Civil Judge and Secretary of Zunheboto DLSA spoke on the salient features of Criminal Procedure Code, Indian Penal Code, Evidence Act and the Information Technology Act. He also presented special case study on the latest aspects of criminal case law in the country including references with the landmark judgments of the Supreme Court cases.
Achumi also sensitized the police personnel on the special legal provisions relating to juveniles, women and children.
The participants were also apprised on the trend of court procedures and insight on the absolute necessity of evidence in courts of law. The programme included discussion hour with the participants which was moderated by Kivinto Swu, Assistant Public Prosecutor Zunheboto. Panel of resource persons also clarified and provided clear resolution on various queries raised by the participants and also deliberated on various issues faced by the police officers. The participants also received booklets on legal literacy and pamphlets on legal aid and criminal laws.
