Police destroys drugs & ganja worth Rs 35 lakh

Kohima, October 9: Assorted quantities of drugs and ganja seized by Nagaland Police during the year worth Rs 35.98 lakh were destroyed on Saturday in the office complex of Superintendent of Police Kohima.
The items include 374 kgs of contraband ganja (Rs 7.48), 15 kgs of raw opium (sunflower drugs) (Rs 9 lakh) and 350 grams of Heroin (Rs 19.50 lakh), said Additional SP Kohima Vitoshe K. Sumi.
The contraband destruction by way of burning was witnessed virtually by Union Home Minister Amith Shah and others attending the Regional meeting on Drug Trafficking and National Security in Guwahati, Assam, said Sumi.
Representatives from administration, police, churches and different colonies were physically present on the occasion.
