Police apprehends 13 extortionists in Dimapur

Dimapur, November 3: Dimapur police apprehended two persons namely Jacob Chizho (24) and Khekiho Achumi (25) on November 1 while collecting tax on behalf of Dimapur Workers Trade Union and Dimapur Private Transport Association.
In this connection, 100 extortion slips each of Dimapur Workers Trade Union and Dimapur Private Transport Association and Rs 2650 were recovered from their possession.
On October 30, Dimapur police arrested one Avinash Bahadur of Lihang village, Karbi Anglong Assam and presently residing at Surla Bhavan, Sematila, Dimapur from Railway Bazar area Dimapur while collecting tax from business community in the name of NSCN-IM.
On conducting frisking/checking, Rs 1390, one mobile handset and one chit containing the list of extorted collection details was recovered from his possession.
Again on October 30, police apprehended two persons namely Gaizinglung Rongmei (40) of Sunrise Colony, Burma Camp, Dimapur and Lan Rongmei (30) of Naga Colony, Burma Camp while collecting money from auto-rickshaw drivers in the name of NSCN (R) and 3 tax slips were seized from their possession.
Dimapur police Anti-Extortion Team(AET) apprehended four persons namely Khekato Kiba (40) of Duncan Bosti, Dimapur; Aboto Yepthomi (35) of Purana Bazar, Dimapur; Thsardse Sangtam (25) of Walford, near Belhou Nursing Home, Dimapur while they were forcibly demanding yearly tax of NSCN (R) from autorickshaw driver within town area on October 30.
In this connection a case has been registered at East Police Station.
On October 29, Anti-Extortion Team (AET) apprehended one person namely Golden Mura (38) of Tingani village, Golaghat for collecting illegal tax in the name of NSCN (R) at New Market area, Dimapur and recovered/seized Rs 730 from his possession.
In this connection, a case has been registered at East Police Station.
Again on October 29, Dimapur police apprehended two persons namely Richard Talukdar and Jekiho Kinimi while extorting money from auto-rickshaw drivers at Eros Lane Dimapur and recovered/seized Rs 450 from their possession.
On October 23, police arrested one person namely Mughavito Kiba of Niuland for issuing yearly tax slips to auto-rickshaw drivers in the name of NSCN (IM) at Murgi Patti area, Dimapur. Tax slips of Truck Owners Association yearly tax, Auto-rickshaw Owners Syndicate yearly tax, Auto-rickshaw Owners Syndicate (big auto-rickshaw) yearly tax, Mobile handset, and Rs 1390 were seized from his possession.
In this connection, a case has been registered at East Police Station.
On October 21, Dimapur police apprehended one person namely Athungbo Sangtam for extorting money from autorickshaw drivers. Two vehicle tax slips of NSCN (K), one authorization letter issued by ‘ss’ Brigadier Akaho Jimo of NSCN/GPRN-K, 10 demand slips in the name of NNC and Rs 210 were seized from his possession.
In this connection, a case has been registered at East Police Station.
6 held with contraband
Dimapur police on October 29 apprehended two persons namely Sahil Gurung (20) of Kanglatongbi village, Sikmai, Imphal and Raju Ram Choudhary (34) of Khardiya village, Nagour, Rajasthan from near Faith Petrol Pump, 5th Mile, Dimapur and recovered/seized contraband opium from their possession which was concealed in one red-colored rucksack bag.
In this connection, a case has been registered at Diphupar Police Station.
On October 25, Dimapur police apprehended three person namely Rohit (39) of Kevichusa Colony; Tungminlunlimsong (40) of Molvan, Medziphema and Paokai Lupheng (40) of Medziphema, Dimapur for possession 600 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon.
In this connection, a case has been registered at East Police Station.
On October 25, police seized 165 kgs (approx) of contraband ganja which was concealed in Mahindra Scorpio (AS01AE 3305).
In this connection, one person namely Harun Rashid (21) of Borguli Village, Nagaon, Assam was arrested. Accordingly, a case has been registered at East Police Station.
1 held for gambling
Dimapur police arrested one Saladin Ali (26), a resident of Half Nagarjan Dimapur for gambling at public place on November 2.
Three gambling dice were recovered from his possession.
Accordingly, a case has been registered at East Police Station.
Unidentified dead body
One unidentified male dead body (local) age around 25-30 years has been found lying on the road side opposite Vidhya Bhawan School, Nagarjan, police informed.
The dead body has been shifted to the District Hospital Morgue for further identification. (Page News Service)
