PMS issue: ENCSU threatens to lock DoHE office

Dimapur, March 28: The Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) has asked the State Government to come up with clear detail of the SIT report, which was submitted to the Government of Nagaland through State Chief Secretary on January 31, 2018.
The ENCSU warned the state Government and the Department of Higher Education not to pretend on the misuse of PMS fund and the misuse of Government fund and lending loan which is “totally mismanagement and injustice before the public eye.”
In a press release issued by its president, M Longre Chang and general secretary, WanGnei C Jessuhu, the union wanted to know why the state Government is so adamant to make the SIT report public when the SIT has submitted its report as asked and empowered by the previous Cabinet.
“There’s no reason for setting up of SIT or any other Investigation Team if it’s report are to keep confined and takes no action as required by their report,” it said.
Stating that it is firm on protecting the interest of students community, the union reminded the former chief minister, former Chief Secretary and former Secretary of Higher & Technical Education to be in touch with the issue until it is closed.
Meanwhile, ENCSU asked the present Government to answer quickly whether the Government would offer punishment as per the law to those involved in misuse of PMS fund and mismanagement of State Government Fund.
The ENCSU warned that if the Government fails to respond immediately, it is ready to lock the gates of Directorate of Higher Education. It requested all the students to prepare mentally and physically to fight for their rights in the state.
ENCSU against DoHE policy
ENCSU also wondered why the Department of Higher Education and the Government of Nagaland confused Nagas students
on the release of scholarship.
ENCSU asked how the Department can adjust the first installment of 2017-18 amount sanction from the central ministry for 2016-17 scholarship.
It asked the state Government not to confuse the students in lending a Government fund from one Department to another Department. Students scholarship is a scheme from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and the state Department should offer the amount to the Central Scheme itself, it said.
It asked the Department and the state Government to streamline the Department immediately.
The ENCSU also requested all the Naga Apex Organisation to keep their eyes open on students scholarship issue. (Page News Service)
