
Dimapur, March 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday bought products from various women Self Help Groups and entrepreneurs on International Women’s Day. It was an attempt to give impetus to women entrepreneurs and Aatmnirbhar Bharat.
Talking about the women’s role in India’s quest for Aatmnirbharta, Modi tweeted “Women are playing a leading role in India’s quest to become Aatmanirbhar. On International Women’s Day, let us commit to encouraging entrepreneurship among women.
Today, I bought a few products that celebrate women enterprise, creativity and India’s culture. #NariShakti”, he tweeted.
Among others, the Prime Minister purchased a traditional shawl from Nagaland. According to reports, the PM bought the shawl form the State’s e-commerce platform madeinnagaland enter.in. The shawls, as per reports, were traditionally weaved by Naga women from Phek district called the Chizami Weaves.
Modi tweeted “India is proud of the Naga Culture, synonymous with bravery, compassion and creativity.
Purchased a traditional shawl from Nagaland. #NariShakti”.
Meanwhile Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has thanked the PM for purchasing a traditional shawl from Nagaland in celebration of International Women’s Day.
“Thank you for the kind gesture of encouraging Naga women artisans.#NariShakti,” he tweeted.
