PHS celebrates foundation day


Dimapur, October 11: Pilgrim Higher Secondary celebrated its 31st foundation cum cultural day on October 1 under the theme “Celebrating cultural diversity across the globe”. The guests were the parents, School board members, GBs and Sunday school superintendents of neighbouring areas. The judges for the day were Joel Ji from South Korea, Mikael Romeo from Italy, Bryan John from Trinidad & Tobago (West Indies) and Gregory Englert from USA.
In her welcome address, principal of the school, Kaini Khekho Kikon gave a brief history of the school and its founders, M Kikon and his wife. She emphasized the importance of ‘bringing the world into the class room’ to give the students a better world view.
After the formal programme, the judges and the invited guests went around visiting the class rooms to experience the different country cultures and interacted with the students – traditional costumes, political scenario, history, flora and fauna, language etc. Foods from these countries were also on display for free sampling and on sale.
Altogether 27 countries were adopted. They also discussed about the governing system, prides and problems of the countries adopted.
