Kohima, August 17: Perizie Colony has emerged champion Amity Cup, an inter-colony penalty shoot-out tournament jointly organised by colony youth organizations under Kohima Municipal Council Ward-1 (High School), Ward-2 (Bayavü) and Ward-3 (North Block).
Altogether 32 teams from 11 colonies of the three wards participated in the tournament held at Indira Gandhi Stadium Kohima today.
Perizie Colony defeated Upper Bayavü ‘A’ in the final.
Perizie received Rs 10000 with trophy & citations and Upper Bayavü ‘A’ got Rs 6000 with certificates as champion and runners-up respectively.
Vizovor Liezietsu of Perizie Colony was adjudged the best goal and awarded Rs 1000 with certificate.
Earlier, speaking during the inaugural function NPF MLA Khriehu Liezietsu lauded the efforts of organizers for aiming to build cordial relationship and better understanding among the youths through sports.
Suggesting that more events should be clubbed in order to have a bigger sporting event, the MLA assured to earmark fund from the Local Area Development Programme from next year.
MLA Khiehu also participated in the tournament as player of Brotherhood FC.
Chairman’s of three wards Kesieliethie Miachieo of Ward No. 1, Khinyi Woch of Ward No. 2 and Jabou Sekhose of Ward No. 3 also exhorted the players while also encouraging them to have cordial relationship with youths of other colonies too.
Pastor of Peraciezie Baptist Church, Kevichalie Metha pronounced the invocation while Kevisetso Miachieo delivered the welcome address. Menuoseü Sorhie enthralled the gathering with special number.
