Peace & unity key components of development in any society: Tovihoto

Dimapur, March 5: Advisor for Department of Power, Government of Nagaland, H Tovihoto Ayemi said peace and unity are key components of development in any society and urged the people irrespective of tribe, community or religion to promote and uphold peaceful coexistence with one another and strive together for prosperity and wellbeing of the society at large.
As special guest, he was addressing a gathering at the combined program of colony recognition and colony gate inauguration at Namgalong Colony, Burma Camp, Dimapur on Saturday.
On behalf of the government, he congratulated the people of Namgalong colony stating that it was an historic day, which marks a new beginning of the colony with an identity of “what makes you who you are and how you wish to define yourselves”.
The colony gate, he said shall stand as the symbolic monument of integrity as a community.
Tovihoto remarked that achievement made by Namgalong colony was result of sincere initiatives and tireless efforts the leaders and people of the colony had put in together. However, he reminded the residents that there will be a demand for greater responsibilities for the colony people and pointed out colony will not progress without the active participation of all concerned.
While expressing his anticipation that the leaders will be honest, sincere and committed towards the uplift of the colony he urged upon the residents to support and encourage the leaders in bringing about the desired progress.
On developmental aspects, the special guest said the Nagaland Government under able and dynamic leadership of Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio is committed to improve the lives of the people and has therefore formulated a number of new policies and programmes which will directly benefit the people and encouraged the colony to grasp the privileges and make the best use of those schemes for the welfare of the people.
Stressing on the need to give emphasis on cleanliness, Tovihoto maintained that lack of civic sense and cleanliness does not only hamper development activities but also create disagreements and misunderstandings among the residents and therefore, people must emphasis on the cleanliness which will not only maintain healthy surrounding but also add to the artistic values and outlook of the colony.
Namgalong colony comprise of many Naga and non Naga communities and each community accorded warm reception to special guest and his wife
In his short speech, Daniel Swu, Chairman, Namgalong Colony Council expressed gratitude to the Advisor for helping the colony to fulfill their long felt dream.
Rev. Gaidim Kamei, pastor, RBCBC said dedicatory prayer while Tengenlo Chung, pastor, CWC said the invocation prayer.
Leader, council chairman and members and GBs of all surrounding colonies attended the celebration.
