Peace coordination meet held at Nakachari

Dimapur, March 12: In order to disseminate more information on the on goings in the Assam-Nagaland border area and to instill peaceful co living amongst the people living in the border peripheries, a solemn peace coordination meeting was held today at the residence of the BPCC(A-N) President, B P Bora at Darakial Gaon at Nakachari in Jorhat district.
In today’s meeting, the members tried to analyse the root causes of conflicts happening in the area which are usually a case of mere law and order problems such as vehicles belonging to Nagaland involving in road accidents in Assam areas, Cattle belonging to Assamese people allegedly getting lifted by culprits from the Nagas, the Tea plantations in the foothills gets destroyed allegedly by the miscreants from Naga side, unreported/unrecorded tales of extortion on the Assamese villagers so on so forth.
The BPCC(A-N) roped in a renowned research scholar, Antora Borah who has been involved on the findings on the Assam Nagaland Border conflict. It is understood that she has already covered the entire Merapani sector of the Assam-Nagaland border areas and now trying to evaluate the remaining portion of the bordering area thus interconnecting the common/uncommon causes of the human habitat in these border belts. She is currently doing on a paper in the theme of “Assam Nagaland Border Conflict – Study of an Emergent Collectivity” from Delhi College of Economics.
The members were of the opinion that unless the concerned authority/s of either sides of the border put a strong mechanism to sensitise and educate the public and specifically the Civil Societies on the nature of incident/s otherwise which, any petty crimes or road accidents are used as a strong tool leading to raise as a case of border conflicts which is not encouraged.
