PDA upholds Cabinet decision on CAB


Dimapur, January 21: The PDA coalition in Nagaland has reaffirmed commitment on the unity and understanding within the alliance and reiterated that the PDA is on solid footing under Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.
The PDA includes NDPP, BJP, JD-U, NPP and Independents.
“The PDA is functioning smoothly with collective responsibility while tirelessly pursuing the commitments of the Common Minimum Program (CMP) of the coalition with encouraging support form all sections of the people,” said a joint press release issued by PDA chairman Chingwang Konyak and co-chairman Temjen Imna Along after a joint meting of the elected members of PDA and the PDA coordination committee today.
The PDA joint meeting also upheld the decision of the State Cabinet on the matter of the Citizenship Amendment Bill and expressed strong solidarity with the firm stand of the State Government.
The meeting also welcomed the decision of the Cabinet to hold consultations with cross sections of society on the matter and in this regard appeal to all concerned to come forward in a positive and participatory manner with views and suggestions so that the approach of the Government will reflect the will and desire of the people.
Consensus candidate
The PDA also unanimously resolved that PDA consensus candidates under the banner of NDPP will be fielded in the forthcoming bye elections to the 26 Aonglenden assembly constituency and the Nagaland Lok Sabha parliamentary constituency.
Appreciating the tremendous developmental works and welfare programmes being undertaken by the State Government in a successful manner as committed in the CMP with the positive support of the NDA Government, the PDA claimed that the Government has ensured that salaries of its employees especially to teachers and scholarships to students are being disbursed in a timely manner.
Several new initiatives aimed at upliftment of all sections, promotion of youth empowerment including sports and games, successful implementation of tourism events and new policies under agri and allied sector amongst a host of other developmental activities are ensuring that positive and progressive change is taking place in Nagaland, it added.
