Says, prepared to face any hurdle in united manner
Dimapur, July 17: The People’s Democratic Alliance today claimed that it is going from strength to strength and the cohesiveness and teamwork within the alliance continues to grow and improve.
The PDA extended appreciation and gratefulness to the people of Nagaland for the overwhelming support and assured all the citizens that it would will continue to strive tirelessly for the welfare of the State.
It also appealed to all sections to come forward and participate in our collective endeavour of bringing progressive change.
In a statement issued by NDPP President & PDA Chairman, Chingwang Konyak and BJP President & PDA Co-Chairman, Temjen Imna Along, the PDA said it is a pre-poll sacred coalition and is supported by the highest leadership of the country.
The PDA assured the people that the PDA is based and founded on mutual trust and collective responsibility and ensured that this alliance would complete the full five years term unhindered.
“We are prepared to face any hurdle in a united manner which is in the greater interest of the citizens of Nagaland,” it stated.
The statement also stated that the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) was formed between the NDPP and BJP prior to the 2018 General Elections to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly. The pre-poll alliance and the agreement to jointly contest the assembly elections with a seat sharing formula was announced in Guwahati on 3rd February, 2018 by the then Union Minister of State for Home, Kiren Rijiju in the presence of NDPP leader, Neiphiu Rio and other senior BJP leaders. The two parties announced to contest as one pre-poll alliance entity with NDPP contesting in 40 seats and BJP contesting 20 seats. The PDA election campaign was launched at Mon town jointly by union MoS, Kiren Rijiju and Neiphiu Rio on February 14, 2018.
On March 8, 2018, the PDA Government was sworn in at the official public swearing in ceremony at the Kohima Local Ground with Neiphiu Rio as the Chief Minister and Y Patton as the Deputy Chief Minister. The historic ceremony was attended by BJP National President Amit Shah, Union Defence Minister. Nirmala Sitaraman, Union MoS (Home) Kiren Rijiju, BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav, and the Chief Ministers of Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh and several other senior national and regional leaders.
