PDA Govt to hold Cabinet meetings in all districts


Kohima, August 17: Setting a new trend the ruling Progressive Democratic Alliance (PDA) has proposed to hold a Cabinet Meeting in all the districts.
This objective is also to give an ample opportunity to the people in governance and take the Government to the doorsteps of the people. Sources the Government will give opportunity to all the districts to host the Cabinet Meeting where district officers would be invited to the meeting.
A source said the first Cabinet Meeting will be held at Kiphire next month where Government is expected to discuss several crucial issues.
The new Government’s new initiatives, so far are mini Hornbill Festival in all the districts, coinciding with the tribal festival and proposal to hold a Cabinet Meeting in all the districts. The 100 days of the PDA government with maintenance of roads, was a flip-flop as nothing was visible on the ground, while the condition of the roads deteriorated.
Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, then kicked off his Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) in 2003 with a 100 days program which turned out to be much hyped with the programs of previous Congress Government to its credit.
The first DAN Government also initiated Road-show which received the wrap of the opposition Congress and people for alleged wastage of public money, while the condition of the roads worsened.
With an intention to give more participation of people in the Governance, the DAN government also allowed some prominent NGOs and tribal Hohos to attend the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) thereby threatening position of the elected representatives.
