Dimapur, June 4: The NPF has questioned the austerity measures of the PDA Government with the present Government going on a random appointment spree.
In a NPF legislators meeting held today, the party said although the Government of the day proclaimed that it is committed to bring about austerity measures in the State by limiting expenditure from the State exchequer by dispensing various unnecessary appointments and streamlining expenditures, however13 non-elected persons were appointed in the capacities of Cabinet & Minister of state ranks.
“Government is refusing to disclose the facilities being provided them in public domain as committed in their policy of “Transparency and Accountability”. Except for removing nameplates, interestingly PDA government has increased VIP culture,” said a release issued by Imkong L Imchen, MLA, spokesperson, NPF Legislature Party.
The meeting also observed that not satisfied with all the maladies, the Government of the day has appointed one person as the State Vigilance Commissioner without consulting the opposition leader who should be a member of the appointing committee. “This particular person also happens to be the official NDPP candidate in the just concluded State General Election. The action is in total violation of all conceivable rules and regulations in appointment to such a dignified and statutory post,” it said.
“Change is coming” with N. Rio as Chief Minister and resurgence of factional killings among NPGs and the ongoing political talk on the prink of failure have put the destiny of the Nagas in jeopardy, the NPF claimed.
The NPF Legislators also stated that the recent imbroglio of NDPP “where a notice has been issue to it by ECI, against whom a case has been filed in the ECI for its de-registration is an interesting episode closely being watched by the Nagas.” The party hoped that the ECI will take action in accordance with the law of the land.
Meanwhile the NPF legislators meeting also committed to play constructive opposition to the BJP led PDA Government in the interest of the people.
