To launch LS poll campaign on March 19
Dimapur, March 14: The ruling People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) in Nagaland Thursday officially announced its candidate for the lone Lok Sabha seat in the State and the candidate for bye-election to the 26th Aonglenden assembly constituency.
Sitting Lok Sabha MP Tokheho Yepthomi of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) was given the ticket as consensus candidate of the ruling alliance.
The NDPP is the major constituent of the PDA. PDA comprises of NDPP, BJP, National People’s Party, Janata Dal (United) and Independents.
The ticket for the by-election to the Aonglenden assembly constituency was handed over to Sharingain Longkumer of the NDPP. The by-poll was necessitated as MLA Imtikumzuk passed away on September 22, 2018.
Polling for the lone Lok Sabha seat and the by-poll will be held on April 11.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said being in the Government, the PDA consensus candidate has the advantage of winning the polls and hoped that the winning margin will be huge.
PDA chairman Chingwang Konyak, who is also the president of NDPP, asked the alliance partners to work hard and not to be complacent.
Meanwhile the PDA will launch its campaign for the 2019 parliamentary elections on March 19, at the DDSC Stadium, Dimapur, at 11 am.
The PDA requested all rank and files of the PDA coalition partners to attend the event positively. It also invited all well wishers and the general public to attend the rally. (Page News Service)
