Patton happy on PM’s seriousness on resolving Naga political issue


KOHIMA, November 8: Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister and Nagaland BJP Legislature Party leader, Y Patton expressed his happiness on the successful conclusion of Naga political talks between the Interlocutor and NSCN (IM) and NNPGs within the deadline given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Talking to section of media persons here at his office chamber on Friday, the Deputy Chief Minister appreciated the Prime Minister’s initiative on the successful conclusion of the Naga peace talks.
He also said nine of them, seven Cabinet Ministers including the Chief Minister and two Advisers already met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and requested him to just resolve their political problem at the earliest “which will be honorable and acceptable to all.”
He was confident that the Government of India under Modi and Shah had been making all out efforts to resolve the Naga issue that would be honorable and acceptable to all. He said they had appealed to all the neighboring states to extend their support and cooperation towards finding a final settlement to nearly a century-old Naga political issue once and for all.
Dismissing the reports that he was trying to topple the Rio Government, Patton said they were committed to the “pre-poll alliance.”
“There is no question of topping the Government in the State,” he added. “We are committed to coalition dharma.” (NEPS)
