DIMAPUR, MAY 26: The Lotha Colony Council, Dimapur has banished from the colony the parents of the new born baby boy that was found abandoned in a drainage inside the State Stadium here on May 24 last.
The colony council identified the child’s parents as Ralamo Tungoe and Thungbeni Tungoe of Liphayan village, under Wokha District, and presently residing at Lotha Colony, Dimapur.
The parents of the baby were identified after police took the child to the Nikos Hospital and Research Centre here for medical attention. On seeing the child, the hospital confirmed that the baby was delivered in the hospital and revealed the parents’ identity.
In a press release, Lotha colony council chairman Renathung Ezung and secretary Mhatsuo Odyuo informed that the child’s parents confessed that they abandoned the child due to sheer poverty and with the intention that the baby will be picked up by some passerby.
Strongly condemning the baby’s parents for the inhuman act, the colony council, in an emergency meeting, banished them from the colony as per colony procedure for tarnishing the colony’s image with immediate effect.
