Paper bag making training conducted


Dimapur, July 24: A two-day paper bag making training was conducted for affiliating units of Naga Women Hoho Dimapur on July 20&21 at DBidl hall, Don Bosco School campus. The training was organized by Dimapur Municipal Council in collaboration with Naga Women Hoho Dimapur and CAN Youth.
The training aimed to provide livelihood for the participating women and also to promote eco friendly and to encourage stop using of plastics. Altogether 56 women participated in the training. The trainers Alice, Marina and Samuel from CAN Youth conducted the training and assisted by the interns from Bosco Institute Jorhat, NEF College of Management & Technology, Guwahati and AIDA IGNOU Dimapur.
CAN Youth, a NGO based in Dimapur, has started promoting paper bags activity since 2015 and has trained more than 30 SHGs and 6 youth organizations.
Chief Functionary of CAN Youth, Jenpu Rongmei spoke on the various environmental issues concerning the State and the urgent need towards promoting paper bags. The women participants were also encouraged to join hands together with the DMC for competing in the market arena with their products so that the targets can be achieved.
Vice president of Naga Women Hoho Dimapur Vimenuo lauded and motivated the participants to change the Naga concept of satisfaction by earning at once in huge amount. She encouraged the women to acquire all the required skills from the trainers without hesitation.
Abeau Mero, entrepreneur & social activist also spoke about the changing climate of Dimapur due to environmental pollution and the use of non-recyclable products. She also briefed about the adverse effect caused to the melting of the Himalayan glaciers due to climate change.
