Pangolins released into wildlife reserved areas at Lozaphuhu

Dimapur, February 22: A severely endangered species, Pangolins was released into the Wildlife Reserved Areas at Lozaphuhu by the Ranger, Forest Department Phek in the presence of members from Lozaphuhu Village Council, Students’ Union and Youth Organization on February 22.
The Village extended appreciation to DFO Phek, DC Phek and Rukusayi Khusoh for donating and facilitating the release of the wild animal into the Lozaphuhu Wildlife Reserved Area which is a huge encouragement towards the Community’s conservation efforts.
As per the Village resolution, the Community also reaffirmed that it would not accept any excuse but impose heavy penalty against anyone, be it its own members or others who kills any of the severely endangered species not only in the Reserved Area but in the whole of Lozaphuhu village territory like Samber deer (tukhro), Bear (thuga), Tiger (tukho), Wild Goat (thulu), Pangolin (tupho), Hornbill (thuro), Pea-cock (ri-ri), Eagle (zode) and Python (shae).
