Palliative care initiated for Church leaders of Longleng

Dimapur, August 30: Introduction of palliative care was initiated and organized by Dr Obangjungla, Chief Medical Officer, Longleng for the Church leaders of Longleng district on August 29 last. This was the second phase of training after the first phase for Doctors and Nurses.
The palliative care training to the church leaders is a part of the multidisciplinary team in palliative care consists of Doctors, Nurses, physiotherapist, psychologist, counsellor, social workers, volunteers and chaplains.
As a resource person, Dr. Obangjungla CMO Longleng deliberated on the importance of palliative care. At the recent scenario burdened with raise in cases of cancer, chronic kidney diseases, strokes etc. the need for palliative care becomes an important health care for the chronically ill and terminally ill patients.
The program was conducted at the Phom Baptist Christian Association (PBCA) conference hall, chaired by Angbhen, women secretary PBCA, invocation by Rev. Bau-uh pastor CBC, keynote address and introduction by Dr. Obangjungla Chief Medical Officer longleng. The program had interactive session and concluding remarks by N Tialemba Phom, Executive secretary PBCA and benediction by Associate pastor, H Mongngei, Longleng Town Baptist Church.
