Paiwang holds review meeting with DHD officials

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 2: Minister Health and Family Welfare P Paiwang Konyak visited Dimapur District Hospital on September 2 along with officials of the Directorate H&FW. The Minister had a detailed review meeting with the staffs and officers of the district hospital and urged them to strictly adhere to the office memorandum issued on Government doctors being disallowed to practise in private hospitals during their official duty hours and also the recent change of OPD timing from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
MS, Dimapur District Hospital, raised many issues confronting the district hospital including shortage of doctors, lack of equipments, poor power pack-up, insufficient water supply and other poor infrastructure, need for solar back up, security fencing.
The MS also raised the issue of surge in Dengue and the staff being overworked due to public pressure. The MS informed that owing to all these issues, the image of the hospital was in bad shape while they were compelled to refer patients to other private hospitals.
The Minister took note of the issues and urged the MS to coordinate with the District Health Society which will help ease some issues.
On the requirement of medical equipments, the Minister assured that he will provide the medical equipments including endoscopic and laparoscopic sets, video processor, Gastroscope, colonoscope equipments, Medical Grade monitor worth Rs. 66.50 lakhs from his personal level.
The Minister also urged the district hospital not to deny any patients having PMJAY card or CMHIS stating that these insurance schemes will really help the patients especially those from economically poor background.
On the surge of Dengue, the Minister informed to immediately bring to his knowledge in case of shortage of medicines and also urged to conduct cleanliness drive on regular basis. While appreciating DC, Dimapur, for tying up with the Ward Council Chairmens to create awareness to contain the virus, Konyak said together with the medical and administration, the virus can be controlled.
The Minister, who visited the entire site and blocks of the hospital, said all issues relating to the district hospital will be taken care of on priority.
He urged the hospital administration to ensure that his visit does not go in vain but some differences should be seen.
He also said that all the Government had issued orders earlier however they was not implemented therefore whatever the orders issued should be strictly implemented.
Dr. C Tetseo, in his closing remark, said for many years people do not wish to visit the Dimapur District Hospital because of lack of facilities however said with the support of the Minister and his enthusiasm to transform the health delivery system in the State, change can be expected soon and the image of the Department would be restored as well.
