Nagaland Minister P. Paiwang Konyak with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 22: Nagaland Minister for Transport, Civil Aviation, Railways and Land Resources, P Paiwang Konyak on Monday urged Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to make Dimapur Railway Station the terminating point for Nagaland Express once again.

A press release informed that Paiwang made this appeal when he met the Union Minister at his office in Delhi.
Paiwang pointed out that on two previous occasions, Nagaland Government had requested the Railway Board to “revoke” the decision to make Ledo Station (in Assam) as the terminating point for Nagaland Express.
However, a favourable action from the Railway Board is still awaited, he said.
In response, the Union Railway Minister was reported to have assured that he would personally look into the matter.
The Nagaland Express train between Dimapur and Guwahati was introduced in 2011.
Nagaland Government has been insisting that to make Ledo Station, which is located 150 km away from Dimapur, as the terminating point for Nagaland Express is not justifiable.
Its stance is that Dimapur Railway Station generates the second highest revenue under North East Frontier Railway, and thus deserves to be the terminating point for Nagaland Express.
It is also the only railway station in the State.
