Painting competition on ‘Save the girl child’

Kohima, January 23: An open painting competition on the theme ‘Save The Girl Child’ for Class 7 to 12 was held at Phek town today and simultaneously in all the sub-divisions wherein 200 students participated as part of the week long Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) special campaign to commemorate the National Girl Child Day.
The competition was organised by District administration and District Level Centre for Women – Mahila Shakti Kendra Phek at Government Higher Secondary School, Phek.
N. Bhavani Sri, SDO (C) Phek stressed on the importance of saving the girl child and encouraged the girls to keep their dream high.
55 participants took part in the competition at Phek Sadar where the 1st position was bagged by Zave-ii Lasuh of class 10 from Royal Foundation School Phek. Shelu of class 10 from Government Higher Secondary School Phek and Menu Tsuzuh of class 10 from St. Peter School Dimapur stood 2nd and 3rd position respectively.
Three consolation prizes were awarded to Mülülü Venuh of class 8 from GHSS Phek, Chete-u Koza of class 9 from Christian Mission Higher Secondary School and Munuta Rhakho of class 7 from Bishop Abraham Memorial School.
The winners will be awarded with certificates and cash prize on Republic Day at Phek on January 26. Meanwhile, tree plantation will be conducted on January 24.
