PAC draws action plan to prevent illegal collection; Volunteers to man check gates from Sept 16


Dimapur, September 13: Raising concern over illegal collection of money in Dimapur, especially at check gates, tribal hohos under the aegis of Public Action Committee of Naga Council Dimapur would start deputing volunteers to man the check gates to prevent illegal collection from September 16 onwards.
The PAC volunteers would not check vehicles but would prevent vehicles from paying illegal money to any state or non-state actors.
The PAC has drawn up an elaborate action plan for the same, wherein it has involved all tribal hohos, who would be sending their volunteers, while a Control Room would be set up at Naga Council Dimapur office and at Chumukedima.
As per information available with Nagaland Page, every volunteer wearing their tribal attire would be stationed at the check gates in the morning 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. and evening 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. when all commercial trucks, lorries enter the state.
It may be mentioned that the PAC had submitted a representation to Chief Minister to frame stringent criminal laws to check illegal collection of money, especially in Dimapur. It has also stated that illegal collection has affected the cost of living of people in Dimapur.
