PAC bandh on Oct 7 postponed

Dimapur, October 5: The Public Action Committee of Naga Council Dimapur has postponed the proposed indefinite bandh in Dimapur which was scheduled from October 7. The decision was taken in a meeting of the PAC Core Committee today.
The PAC stated that the Deputy Commissioner Dimapur held a meeting with the Tribal Hoho President and representatives of frontal organizations on October 3 last wherein the DC stated that the district administration has instituted the District Level Price Monitoring Committee (DLPMC) to evolve mechanism to monitor and control price of essential commodities in Dimapur and on request made by the district administration and appeal of Hindu Seva Samiti and Bengali Samaj Dimapur on account of Durga Puja, the PAC decided to postpone the bandh slated from October 7.
However, it said the PAC has decided to wait till October 19, where the Sub-Committee constituted by the DC Dimapur will bring out their report with price list of commodities from neighbouring towns, district and states for comparison and finalization.
The PAC, however, conveyed it’s reservation on the committee members of DLPMC and will put forward their appeal to DC for redressal.
The PAC, in its effort to fight illegal collection of money and normalize prices of all commodities extended gratitude to all tribal hohos, individual contributors and organisations for extending support to PAC.
The PAC particularly acknowledged the Nagaland Voluntary Consumers Organisation (NVCO) , Nagaland Government Registered Class-1 Contractors Union(NGRC-1CU) and Kohima District Truck Owners and Drivers Union (KDTODU) who have vocally come out in support of PAC understanding the gravity of calling an “indefinite bandh”.
However, PAC has decided to wait on the district administration and state government till October 19 . It said the PAC have not called off the indefinite bandh but is only providing a space to the administration to rectify the anomalies within the above mentioned period and PAC will certainly look for support to fight together with all likeminded organizations for the welfare of the society, districts and state in general.
