Dimapur, October 11: A one day meeting cum orientation and sensitization of District Task Force (DTF) for Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) programme was held in the DC’s conference hall, Wokha on October 8.
Chairman DTF and DC Wokha, Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon, IAS said that BBBP, launched in the year 2015, has been one of the flagship programmes being monitored directly by Prime Minister’s Office. Jeelani said that for the success of any flagship programme, it takes time and added that when we look at the statistics of many government projects, we can identify that no programme is successful or sustainable by the Government alone without the active participation of all the stack holders, NGOs and local communities, therefore, the DC has appealed to all the stack holders of the District to actively participate for the successful implementation of the programme.
The DC said due to existence of disparity in child population boy/girl sex ratio in the district: 1000 boy /985 girl ratio in 2001 to 1000/956 boy/girl ration in 2011 census, the District has been selected for the BBBP programme to bridge the gap by providing to the girl child better health care system, education and other basic amenities for the protection and safety of the girl child.
