Orientation meeting on IDC Fortnight held


Dimapur, June 11: A 1-day orientation meeting on Intensified Diarrhea Control Fortnight was held on June 11 for block officials at CAMP Office, Zunheboto.
Dr. Alemwabang Aier, DPO (RCH & UIP), Zunheboto was the resource person.
He explained about the goals of IDCF which is to attain zero child deaths due to childhood diarrhoea.
He also elaborated about What is Diarrhoea and how can it be prevented? Objective and Strategy. He also gave an Overview of IDCF activities for 2018.
He further emphasized that IDCF involves coming together of different departments like School Education (Hand washing demonstration and provision of safe drinking water), Social Welfare (ORS-Zinc corners in Anganwadi centers and nutrition support) and PHED /PWD (Sanitation and safe drinking water).
DPO (RCH&UIP) briefed that the overall objective of IDCF is to ensure high coverage of ORS and Zinc use rates in children with diarrhoea throughout the country with emphasis on the high priority areas and vulnerable communities, along with inculcating appropriate behaviour in care givers of under-five children for diarrhoea prevention & management.
