Oriental College 4th Men’s Open Basketball trophy begins

Kohima, September 13: Altogether 15 teams are vying for the coveted title of 4th Men’s Open Basketball trophy organized by Oriental College Kohima within the college premises.
Chairman of Kohima Village Council, Helievi-o Solo gracing the inaugural session of the four-day long championship today, said co-curriculum activities are an important part of the educational activities to enhance one’s physical fitness and also broaden the relationship with others.
In order to be a good sportsperson one has to be God fearing, obedient, disciplined and also punctual, he said.
He went on to say that the state government and various organizations are stressing on the importance of sports, he expressed hope that it would provide better avenues for talented youngsters.
He also called upon them not only to look for conventional jobs but also to take up sports as a profession and make a living out of it.
Delivering the keynote, Principal of Oriental College, Dr Ketshukietuo Dzuvichü informed that the tournament has been clubbed with the year-long silver jubilee celebration of the college.
Ruokuovituo Zatsu administered the oath to players.

1. Griffins beat Oriental College 67-36 points.
2. Orca beat Aries by 71-41 points.
3. Taurus beat Aztecs Basketball 97-39 points.
