Orgs visit institutions during Independence Day celebration in state


Dimapur, August 15: On the occasion of the 72nd Independence Day celebration, various charitable organizations visited different institutions in the State.
DPC: On the occasion of 72nd Independence Day, the Dimapur Press Club (DPC) visited the Central Jail in Dimapur and provided essential food items for the Central Jail inmates.
Lion’s Club Kohima: Lion’s Club of Kohima visited Orphanage and Destitute Home Kohima on account of Independence Day and had a fellowship programme with the inmates. The programme had a small interaction with the inmates and donated food grains, fresh meat and eatables.
DCCI: President and members of DCCI visited Sharon Home of Hope at Burma Camp and distributed rice, pulses, apple and various other food items to the students there as part of the Independence Day celebration. The president extended fullest corporation to the orphanage in future.
Inner Wheel Club: The members of Inner Wheel Club of Dimapur brought in the 72nd Independence Day by starting a ‘Say No To Plastic’ campaign to minimise the use of non biodegradable substances and promote sustainable environment in the society for future generation. The club pasted posters in and around main market places of Dimapur city.
The club members also visited Naga Blind Association, Nutun Basti on August 15. They distributed food packets and grocery items. The president assured full corporation at all time.
MCD: As advised by the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, members of Muslim Council Dimapur visited Prodigal’s Home at Fellowship Colony, Dimapur and distributed sweets, snacks and juices to the children of the home.
Leo Club Dimapur: Leo Club of Dimapur celebrated 72nd Independence Day by hoisting the National Flag at Lions Club. Later, they visited Spastic Society of St. Mary’s Montessori & Higher Secondary School, Dimapur. Members of Leo Club distributed juice, biscuits, chips, chocolates and stationery items to the students.
NBS: On the Occasions of 72nd Independence Day, members of Nagaland Bhojpuri Samaj hoisted the National flag at NBS Office and later visited Dimapur Civil Hospital, where they distributed sweets, snacks and soft drinks to the patients, patient’s families and hospital staff.
NPF Minority Wing: NPF Minority Wing has celebrated 72nd Independence day in befitting manner at Dimapur Party office on 15th August. On this special occasion members of Minority Wing has organised social work and free food distribution program to patient in Dimapur Hospital and needy people at Railway station area under the leadership of Bishnu Bhattacharjee ,President Minority Wing Central and Roshan Tamang, President M. W. Dimapur Division.
KPC: The Kohima Press Club (KPC) visited the District Tuberculosis and Chest Diseases Hospital at Khuzama on the occasion of the 72nd Independence Day on Wednesday.
KPC members interacted with the staff and patients of the hospital, which is one of the only two TB treatment centers in Nagaland. The other TB hospital is located in Mokokchung district.
There are currently seven patients admitted to the Khuzama centre. It was noted that while the number of patients is declining, the in-patients and the staff were facing several difficulties such as lack of proper kitchen, power supply problem and lack of electrician, defective equipment in the hospital laboratory, inadequate supply of nutritious food for patients.
The visiting KPC members wished the patients speedy recovery and acknowledged the efforts of the staff of the hospital in delivering care and treatment to the patients. The club donated some items of food, snacks and refreshment to the patients and staff.
Altogether, 26 members of the press club participated in the visitation.(Page News Service)
