Dimapur, March 13: Six Dimapur-based organizations have directed all business dealing with perishable items, groceries, confectionaries, medicine, hotels & restaurants and travel agencies to open from this Sunday (March 17) within Dimapur municipal area and East Dimapur jurisdiction.
A joint press release issued by the Naga Council Dimapur, GB Union Dimapur, Dimapur Urban Colony Chairman Federation, Naga Women Hoho Dimapur, Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry and East Dimapur Business Association, notified that any shop establishment not following the directive would be severely penalized by the organizations within their jurisdiction.
The NGOs also appealed to the NSCN (IM) leadership to give proper directives and order about the decision of the NGOs to the rank and file.
It may be mentioned that these organizations had appealed to the NSCN (IM) earlier to lift the bandh imposed on Sunday on those businesses dealing with daily essential items but there has been no response from the NSCN (IM), which, the organization said, it considered as approved by the NSCN.
Meanwhile, the NGOs cautioned the business community to be vigilant of unscrupulous elements trying to take undue advantage of the confusion of Sunday closure by duping them of fees/tax to open shops on Sunday. It asked the traders to report about the same to the appropriate authority immediately.
The NGOs further demanded the district administration and police to deploy adequate security personnel both in uniform and civil in those areas where shops would be opened to prevent unwarranted harassment. (Page News Service)
