“All forms of killings in the form of personal rivalry or factional is not at all expected by the people at this crucial moment when the Nagas are searching for peace and political settlement,” NH said in a condemnation and appealed to all Naga national groups not to allow escalation of another nightmare through such occurrence.
“As the Naga political scenario becomes fluid where confusion and differences of ideologies are looming in the minds of our people, every sensible citizens needs to be vigilant as there would be elements to bring unrest and disunity among the Nagas,” it said.

NTC: The Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) has expressed shock at the brutal and coldblooded assassination of Toishe Yeptho on August 16 at his residence at Purana Bazaar ‘B’ Dimapur in presence of his family members.
“Taking the law in one’s hand and killing fellow brother without reservation is cowardly act and condemns the action of the assassin in its highest term. Life can be given only by God and taking one’s own image of life is barbaric and an act of beast. Peace is seemingly dawning but the ghastly killing of the son of the soil disturbs the peaceful atmosphere and tranquility of the land,” it said.
The NTC urged the law enforcing agencies to take up the case with all seriousness and at all cost and bring the culprit to book so that the hard earned peaceful atmosphere of the land is restored.
It also conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members and prays to Almighty God to grant them courage to withstand in this time of inconsolable grief and sadness.
DDGBA: The Dimapur District GBs Association (DDGBA) has also vehemently condemned the killing of Major Toishe of NSCN (IM), and urged all sensible Naga public to join the chorus of condemnation. It also urged the competent authority(s) to book the perpetrator(s) at the earliest and bring them to justice.
“Whatever be the reason(s) behind, it does not justify the killing. Shooting and snatching away one person’s precious life in front of his loved ones leaving behind a traumatized and a wailing widow and orphaned children is too unbecoming of a civilized world. …..and also when talks are going on with the GoI, such actions does not bode well for the Nagas,” it said.
The DDGBA also prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace. (Page News Service)
