Organizations condemn alleged rape

Dimapur, May 6: The Dimapur District Citizens’ Forum (DDCF) has expressed concern over the crime against woman that occurred even during Covid-19 lockdown on April 28 last.
The DDCF condemned the heinous incident of rape allegedly committed by Ashish Ghosh and Shymal against a helpless mother of a child.
The DDCF appealed to the law enforcing agencies to award severest punishment as per the law of the land to such criminals.
“If they can commit such crime even when the whole world is fighting day and night against the pandemic, it is hard even to imagine what crime they can commit if they are freed. They did not only commit a crime against a woman but even violated the rules of the Covid-19 Lockdown,” the DDCF stated in a press release.
It further appealed to the lawyers not to fight for the release of such criminals who don’t respect their fellow human being.
NPF Minority Wing Central:
NPF Minority Wing, Central has condemned the inhuman act held at Netaji Colony in Dimapur wherein a 34-year old women was reportedly raped on April 28 evening by two persons.
Stating that this kind of criminal activity like rape, molestation and threat would never bring peace and harmony; rather spoil the image of the society, the NPF Minority Wing President, Bishnu Bhattacharjee urged every citizen and organization to condemn the incident.
Terming this as an extreme act of barbarism in civil society, the NPF Minority Wing urged the legal authority, women’s forum and human right to take befitting care of every women to protect their right to live with dignity, irrespective of caste, creed or any other consideration.
The NPF Minority Wing recommended investigation into the heinous act in a fast track court in order to dispense justice to the victim.
Meanwhile, it extended gratitude to all the people and organisations which includes women council, who stood by her at this time of extreme suffering.
DMC:
Dimapur Meetei Council (DMC) has condemned the incident of crime against women leading to alleged rape of 34-year old woman at Netaji Colony, Dimapur on April 28 last by two persons during the lockdown period.
The DMC said the accused should be awarded befitting punishment as per the provision of law.
In a press release, DMC president, Sarat Thangjam appealed to all right thinking citizens, CSOs, student organizations, women association to condemn such a heinous crime and uncivilized act.
It also prayed for the speedy recovery of the victim.

The Dimapur Bengali Samaj has vehemently condemned the heinous crime that took place in the evening of April 28 at Dream Society Club Railway Colony Dimapur in which two persons have allegedly raped a 34-year-old woman causing her severe physical and mental injuries and later dumped her outside a shop near her house at Netaji Colony Dimapur.
In a press release issued by its president, K K Paul, the Dimapur Bengali Samaj demanded that the accused on being proved guilty be punished, so that justice is delivered to the victim. The members of the Dimapur Bengali Samaj also demanded severest of the punishment for the culprits. (Page News Service)
