Dimapur, March 13: Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio today said that an opposition-less Government will help solve pressing issue including the Naga issue, ENPO issue and the pending issue of delimitation, TOI reported
Talking to reporters in New Delhi after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rio said, “Nagaland is a troubled state, Naga issues needs to be resolved, ENPO issue needs to be resolved and delimitation is pending. So it will be good if we have an opposition-less Government.”
Rio said that the Prime Minister and Home Minister had come to Nagaland for campaigning and also attended the swearing in ceremony; therefore they had come to thank them for their support and also shared few of their problems.
Replying to a query on Naga political issue, Rio said that earlier they (Naga groups) could not come together, but on January 14 this year, they had signed a joint declaration that on the basis of the political and historical rights, they will collectively resolve. He also hoped that solution could come at the earliest.
It may be mentioned that NDPP and BJP contested the elections in Nagaland on a seat-sharing basis of 40:20. NDPP won 25 seats while BJP 12.
Following the election results all other parties have extended their support to the Government, indicating that this time also Nagaland will have an opposition-less Government.
