Open House TaFMA launched in Mon

Dimapur, August 3: Mon district of Nagaland achieved the distinction of holding the first event ‘Open House’ of the Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA) under the leadership of Theja Meru, advisor TaFMA, Government of Nagaland and enabled by the District administration of Mon District. The event was held at Mon Town Council Hall which was attended by large hosts of dignitaries, public leaders and artists from varied fields.
When Nagaland Page contacted the Deputy Commissioner, Mon, Thavaseelan IAS, he stated that the Open House is an initiative that is being launched by TaFMA in all the districts to showcase young talents.
He said, “Open House by TaFMA is a welcome move. It is not only focusing on music but also other arts- singers, musicians, dancers, authors, fashion, etc. Basically a whole lot of arts that were not given the much needed impetus in the past will have better footing and grooming under the open House. The best would then be provided a platform at the state level”.
When queried on his role as the Deputy Commissioner in the ‘Open House’, he stated that TaFMA has been initiated by the Government of Nagaland this year and the DC is an enabler.
He optimistically said, “Helping this initiative reach the nook and corner of the district and today it is the first event launched in Mon for the whole state”, and added that this initiative by the government boosted the morals of the artists from different fields.
The Mon District administration tweeted “Open House is now live! Thank you TaFMA for launching Open House in Mon. Open House is a monthly event which provides a platform to budding singers, musicians, authors and various artists to show case their talent”.
Nagaland achieved the distinction of becoming the first state in India to introduce music as an industry. TaFMA during its inception phase this year was named as Music Task Force (MTF) but on July 22 it was rebranded as Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA) and in this connection Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio tweeted “Happy to announce that Music Task Force is rebranded as Task Force For Music & Arts #TaFMA with the objective to broaden its scope of reach and make it more inclusive.”
