Open Futsal and Basketball tournament held in Kohima

Kohima, October 21: A 2-day tournament of Open Futsal and Basketball organised by Lerie Youth Organisation was held on October 18 and 19 at St. Mary’s Cathedral Higher Secondary School, Lerie in Kohima
In futsal category, Samsung FC emerged as the champoins of the open Futsal tournament, while Team Amplified won the Basketball championship title.
The winner of Futsal, Samsung FC pocketed Rs. 20000 and runners up Tuborg FC gets Rs. 10000. The individual prize of top scorer was shared by Seyie Kire of Predator and Vethizo, Naga Jaguars.
Team Amplified, the winner of Basketball championship received a cash of Rs. 20000 sponsored by Beizo Khamo and runners-up Kohima Chief with Rs. 10000. Khriebeilie Sorhie of Kohima Chief was adjusted as MVP.
During the prize distribution ceremony, prizes for basketball was given away by Visazo Thenuo Convenor organising committee.
While Futsal prizes was given away by William Koso (National Football Coach Head of Youth Development Aizawl FC)
Earlier on Oct. 18, the inaugural futsal match was inaugurated by GB T Peter Solo, while the basketball first match by Chubatoshi, a home evangelist.
The organising committee informed in a press release on Sunday that a total of 28 teams participated in futsal and six teams took part in basketball tournament.
President LYO William Koso in a press release informed that the tournament was organised in aid of the fund raise for upcoming Lerie Youth Organisation Silver Jubilee. He also extended his appreciation to the principal St Mary’s School and the sponsors for extending their help towards the youth organisation.
