Dimapur, July 3: In view of the advisory issued by District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Dimapur with regards to weather forecast of heavy rainfall, winds and lightning with the possibility of flash floods, landslides and lightning strikes from July 1 to 12, DC Dimapur has also taken into account the onset of monsoon season and requested the general public to avoid any economic, leisure (fishing, picnic etc) or other activities along the rivers across the district.
The DDMA Dimapur urged the public to be vigilant and not to shelter under large trees and near the river banks to prevent unnecessary risk to life from lightning and flash flood.
The DDMA also urged all line departments who are responsible to attend to any emergencies caused by natural calamities to be on alert to save lives and properties during this monsoon period. (Page News Service)
