Only 13 interstate check-gates to be operational

DIMAPUR, MAY 20: Except for 13 inter-State police check-gates, all other check-gates in any form, permanent/semi-permanent/temporary/mobile, in Nagaland will stop functioning with immediate effect.
An order issued by the office of Director General of Police, Nagaland, on Friday informed that the inter-State check-gates that will continue to operate with sanction are: Khuzama in Kohima; Khatkati, New Field, Dellai, in Dimapur; Bhandari in Wokha; Namza, Naginimora in Mon; Kezhakeno, Lanyie in Mon; Tsutapela, Watiyongpang in Mokokchung; Maram via Peren in Peren; and Shetap (Yanglok) in Longleng.
“All other check-gates in any form, permanent/semi-permanent/temporary/mobile to be closed with immediate effect. The concerned CP/SPs will submit a report to that effect by 6 p.m. on May 21”, the order stated.
It also announced various departmental steps to be taken towards combating illegal collection of money. One of the steps includes setting up a ‘control room for combating illegal collection of money’.
The DIGP (NPTO) has been tasked to earmark a dedicated room for this purpose in the State police control room at Kohima.
