Dimapur, April 5: The Muslim Council Dimapur has clarified that as per the Tabliq Jammat (Preaching Group) report only one person from Nagaland went to the Markaz at Nizamuddin and attended the congregation on March 7 & 8 and returned to Dimapur on March 12.
The MCD on receiving the information immediately traced him out and handed over to the Medical authorities. Later on his family was also put under quarantine and all have been tested COVID- 19 negative, it said in a clarification.
The MCD informed that another two persons from New Market who actually went to Delhi/ Nizamuddin for business purposes were also identified and handed over by the council and were also put under quarantine at the facilities in Dimapur and they were also tested COVID- 19 negative.
The MCD also clarified on a letter circulated in the social media signed by the chairman of Old Showuba Village Council, Dimapur dated 5th April 2020, which has a list of 10 peoples stating that they have returned from a religious gathering in Guwahati on 20th March and are all put in home quarantine.
The MCD requested all authorities not to circulate names of any persons, but rather inform the rightful authorities for action as this will add to further panic among the citizens of Dimapur. It clarified that these group has been in Tabliq Jammat at Narangi in Guwahati from February 10 and on completion of 40 days returned back on March 21 and were checked at Railway Station and had gone to their respective village. This group was in Guwahati for the entire 40 days period before their arrival on 21st March 2020, it clarified.
Stating that it understands that due to the Tabliq/ Nizamuddin issue there is a growing concern among the citizens in Dimapur, including the Muslim community, the MCD said if all act as responsible citizens then we can erase the panic and that will also help us from not developing hatred against a particular community.
The MCD also appealed to the Tabliq Jammat members of Nagaland to voluntarily do the needful if anyone of them has attended Nizamuddin or any other religious congregations in the last one month. (Page News Service)
