One year of NaMo-2 has been a year of achievements for country: Patton

Kohima, June 14: Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister and Leader of BJPA Legislature Party, Y Patton today said that one year of NaMo-2 has been historic and a year of achievements for the Country.
Speaking during the BJP Nagaland virtual rally (live video conference) with Union Minister of State for DoNER and PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh at State BJP Headquarters here, Patton highlighted activities and achievements on completion of one year of NAMO.2 saying it fulfilled long cherished dreams of decades.
He said under the dynamic leadership of Narendra Modi, the protracted Naga political negotiation has gained a new momentum.
“The Naga people have high hope and faith in his leadership to bring a permanent settlement,” he said.
Beside others, he said repealing of Article 370 and 35A in J&K, enactment the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, solving the long-pending issue for Sikh devotees by ensuring access to Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib, appointment of the Chief of Defence Staff for the first time in the history of the country, solution to the long perplexed issue for settlement of 34,000 people belonging to Bru community in Tripura by signing the Bru- Reang Refugee agreement, signing of the Boro Agreement to permanently resolve the long pending issues in Assam are some of the achievements of NAMO.2 government.
During the one year of his second term, Patton said India has achieved a major landmark in helping more than one crore beneficiaries under Ayushman Bharat Yojana.
However, expressing that it also has seen challenges as the country encountered Covid-19 pandemic, Patton said Prime Minister Modi was applauded by the World leaders and by various Global Organizations for timely declaring National Lockdown and took major effective steps in fighting the Pandemic.
“Modiji has taken several steps for fighting the spread of this Covid-19 Pandemic, from the call for “Janata Curfew” to the subsequent National Lockdown starting March 24 onwards, keeping in mind the importance of “Jaan Hai to Jahan hai”, he said.
Under the initiatives of the Central Government, thousands of civilians stranded abroad were evacuated and brought back safely to India under “Vande Bharat and Samudra Setu” missions. Nationwide Shramik Special Trains were pressed into service to ferry lakhs of migrant workers to their home destinations. Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana, a relief package of Rs. 1.7 Lakh Crore was announced by the Modi Government.
As for the State of Nagaland, Patton said the BJP is a responsible coalition partner, having 12 BJP Legislators, in the house of 60 members.
For the last two years, he said the Progressive Democratic Alliance (PDA) government in Nagaland under the ‘dynamic leadership’ of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio had been delivering good governance guided by the vision of the central government.
In this time of Covid-19 pandemic, Patton said the BJP Nagaland State Unit is doing its best in handling the situation by engaging in distributing of essential commodities to the stranded migrant laborers and stranded students in the state and essential commodities in various towns and villages to sharing packed food to the needy people.
Procured Fogging Machines from South Korea and distributed to all the District Headquarters for sanitizing public places distribution of PPE kits to the frontline workers and to all the District Taskforce, he said.
The State BJP legislators have been extending financial assistance to various sections of the needy people in all the districts in Nagaland and committed to continue doing so, he said.
Patton maintained that while drawing inspiration from “Atmanirbhar Bharat” call made by Prime Minister Modi, the State BJP had distributed Kharif Crop Seeds to all the Districts to encourage Agri and allied farming in the State.
“Our efforts continue amidst the pandemic and shall continue in our services and welfare activities to the people,” he said.
Patton further urged upon all the BJP workers to continue to give more efforts in fighting against this Covid-19 in the State.
Saying that the Covid-19 pandemic is here to stay, the Deputy Chief Minister appealed to the general public to strictly follow the government guidelines by maintaining social distancing, personal hygiene, wearing of face masks, regular hand washing habits, using the hand sanitizers etc.
BJP State president and Minister for Higher & Technical Education and Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along, along with Minister Kashiho Sangtam and Advisors Dr Longrineken and Khehovi Yeptho and State BJP officials and functionaries were present during the virtual rally. (Page News Service)
