Dimapur, September 18: AICC general secretary, Luizinho Faleiro has said that imposition of ‘one nation-one language’ policy is against the idea of India.
The move is outright undemocratic and will break the very essence of the nation’s formation, he said.
Stating that each state has its own culture with hundreds of tribes and sub-tribes, Faleirio said, “It is our duty to preserve and protect this unique identify for posterity.”
He said language has been an important catalyst in the assertion and preservation of the distinct identity and an integral element in the process of the nationality formation. “But recently BJP President push for Hindi under one nation one language clearly imposes a threat to the linguistic and cultural identity of North East India,” he said adding, this would certainly infringe national integrity.
Faleiro pointed out that the Constitution clearly respects India’s diversity as it recognizes 22 languages spoken by a large number of people but in its attempt to further its agenda of destroying the pluralistic fabric of the country, the BJP is ready to insult the Constitution as well.
“We will resist such imposition,” the Congress leader said and called all PCC chiefs to organize protests and dharna to “oppose the draconian policy”.
