Dimapur, June 18: An ‘On-the-spot Painting Competition’ for students of classes 6 to 8 on the theme “Communicating Science for all” organized by the District Education Office, Kohima in collaboration with the Department of Science & Technology, Government of Nagaland was held on Tuesdayat the Angamimiapfü Mechü Krotho (AMK) Hall, Kohima.
In a single Category Painting Competition which is a post event commemoration of the National Science Day 2019, all together 42 students from 14 schools participated. The students were given privilege to select any one of the topics from the following ten which were: Science and Technology for Sustainable Environment; Science and Technology in Health and Hygiene; Urbanization and Climate Change; Science and Technology in Food Security; Sustainable Agriculture; Science and Technology for specially abled people; Concept of Smart City; Reuse and recycle of resources; Sustainable Transport; and Transportation and Communication in future.
Team Fernwood School with Imlitungzuk, Class 8; Hivi, Class 8; and Lichoni, Class 8 with Guide Teacher Linika bagged the first position while Team Oking Christian School with Metünüto Rhakha, Class 8; Khriesangutuo Sorünuo, Class 6; and Kükhrülü Medeo, Class 8 with Guide Teacher Rhüvi bagged the second position. The third position was secured by Team Charity School with Chiklan, Class 7; Sazida, Class 8; and Mufliha, Class 8 with Guide Teacher Boho Achumi. The winners of the competition were awarded with certificate and cash prize.
The organizing of this painting competition is in pursuance of letter No. S&T-138/2011/432-55 Dated Kohima, the 8th February 2019 of the Directorate of Science & Technology.
